Prompt of the week: Check matching

The “Matching check” can be used to assess how well two organizations fit together. The prompt helps nonprofits and funding organizations to check a potential sponsorship, partnership or collaboration more quickly and comprehensibly.

Spheriq combines the perspectives of nonprofits and funders. At its core, the platform supports matching between the two sides. Accordingly, one prompt is particularly important for the new Spheriq AI: “Check matching”.

How well do two foundations fit together?

The prompt is therefore useful for nonprofits that want to check the profile of a funding organization to see whether it is eligible for funding. It also supports funding organizations that want to assess potential project partners or applicants on the profile of a nonprofit organization from a scouting perspective.

The result is, of course, neither a funding commitment nor a preliminary decision, but a well-founded initial assessment: How well do the two organizations fit together? Where are there clear uncertainties? And is an in-depth examination worthwhile?

What Spheriq AI does

The prompt is started on the organizational profile of the other party, in our example the BEYOUND FOUNDATION. Spheriq AI recognizes the context: Who is asking? Which organization is being considered? Is it about fundraising, scouting or a possible collaboration?

Spheriq AI then compares all the information available on both sides. This also includes the profile of the searching organization, in our case the Klangwelt Toggenburg Foundation. The information included includes subject areas, target groups, areas of activity, further profile details and – if available – a detailed funding logic on the Funder page. Also included are available documents such as annual reports or funding strategies, which can be added to the profiles as PDFs.

First, the AI displays a “Fit” value in a clear star logic. The “Hope” value of the counter organization is also displayed (for Fit & Hope, see the background article on key concepts in Spheriq AI). In addition, an assessment is created that not only says whether something fits, but also why. The AI either lists pros and cons, i.e. what speaks for and against closer cooperation or support. If there is a detailed funding logic, the assessment is even more detailed and Spheriq AI evaluates the central criteria individually. This makes it clear at a glance whether a match is realistic or not.

To put it simply, the pipeline (see our background article) works in several steps: it first classifies the query, clarifies the starting point and goal, then retrieves the relevant data from the profiles, checks the available evidence again and only then formulates the answer.

Use correctly

A solid basis is needed for “checking matching” to work well. The prompt should be started directly on the organizational profile of the other party – on the profile of a funding organization if a nonprofit is reviewing possible funding, or on the profile of a nonprofit if a funding organization is evaluating an organization from a scouting perspective. It works particularly well when this profile is well populated. However, it is just as important to fill out your own organizational profile in detail.

This means that the better your own profile information is maintained, the more meaningful the assessment will be. Clear information on purpose, activities, subject areas, target groups, field of activity, current priorities and projects is particularly important. In the case of funding organizations, a stored funding logic significantly increases the quality of the answer, because Spheriq AI can then check not only rough overlaps, but also specific criteria.

If important information is missing, Spheriq AI actively identifies these gaps. A reserved result therefore does not automatically mean that there is no fit. It can also show that the available evidence is not yet sufficient.

Only organizations can use the prompt. Individuals do not have an organizational profile on Spheriq. Accordingly, the AI also lacks the basis for checking a profile match. Spheriq access at Pro level is also a prerequisite for the inclusion of Fit, Hope and Funding Logic.

In everyday life

In fundraising, “Check Matching” can help to prioritize a long list of possible funding organizations. For example, a non-profit finds itself on the profile of a foundation and would like to know whether it is worth doing more in-depth research. Spheriq AI then checks whether topics, target groups and areas of activity match and whether existing funding criteria fit the organization or project.

This helps you decide more quickly: Is it worth taking a closer look here or even making an initial inquiry? Are there any obvious exclusions? Or is another funding organization perhaps more promising?

The prompt is also used in scouting. A funding organization comes across the profile of a nonprofit and wants to assess how well it fits in with its own funding practice. Spheriq AI provides a structured orientation for this and makes it clear which points speak in favor of further examination and which remain open.
