The EdelGive\/SIX social innovation network conducts regular surveys within its community through the \u201cEcosystem Pulse Check.\u201d Professionals around the world share their assessments of the state of the social innovation sector. For years, the responses have consistently highlighted similar challenges. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had enough of overly optimistic rhetoric that has little to do with the reality of our sector. Nevertheless, we\u2019re pressing on\u201d (translation by the editorial team). This statement by a respondent from Brazil clearly captures the mood, writes EdelGive\/SIX in its latest (and, as always, well worth reading) newsletter<\/a>. It reflects the challenges facing the innovation sector that came to light in the Pulse Check. <\/p>\n\n

In response to the key question of where in the ecosystem there is the greatest need for action, EdelGive\/SIX identified three recurring areas of tension. First, funding is too narrowly focused, too short-term, and not sufficiently aligned with on-the-ground realities. Second, the sector is exhausted by \u201cpilotitis\u201d\u2014that is, endless pilot projects lacking a long-term strategy and follow-through. And third, there is a \u201csilent frustration\u201d with a system that celebrates innovation while continuing to protect outdated structures that actually need to be dismantled urgently. <\/p>\n\n

Despite these challenges, the sector remains determined and dynamic. To better understand what the ecosystem currently needs and how EdelGive\/SIX can respond, the network is once again inviting participants to take part in the Pulse Check<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n
